Questions
Question
What should I do before sending a non-gambling report?
Answer
A computer must be cleaned from the effects of hidden irresponsible gambling crimeware prior to sending a non-gambling report. We have created Check my PC to help GamBlock® Small Business and GamBlock® Personal users achieve this.
If the GamBlock® version is not , it is likely that the non-gambling site(s)/page(s)/image(s)/activity(es) submitted is(are) already unblocked. GamBlock® Refresh must be permitted through the computer's firewall in order for GamBlock® to update automatically. If the window below has been displayed recently, then GamBlock® Refresh has been permitted to contact our servers.
GamBlock® updates automatically during a licence period, provided GamBlock® is registered and GamBlock® Refresh is permitted to contact our servers. GamBlock® Refresh must be permitted through the firewall where a third party firewall is in use, otherwise no action is required. The example given is for Comodo Firewall Pro, where "Allow" must be selected.
Some firewall/security suites offer preconfigured firewall settings to help protect users from crimeware without constantly displaying alerts. Norton 2007 for example, allows the digitally signed GamBlock® Refresh to contact our servers with no action required by the user. If this is not the case, most firewall/security suites provide an "Advanced" option that can be used to allow GamBlock® Refresh to contact our servers. This is often referred to as an "Exception". Some third party firewalls are configured incorrectly, which in turn prevents anti-virus or other software from functioning correctly. If this is the case, uninstall the third party firewall, switch on the Windows Firewall, run anti-crimeware programs (regularly), restart you computer and GamBlock® Refresh will contact our servers.
